Okay, first of all let me just say that sunrise engagement sessions are the BEST! When Bridgette and Colin said that they wanted their engagement session at Tamarack Beach in Carlsbad at SUNRISE I was 100% here for it. I think I might write an entire blog post later just about why doing photo sessions at sunrise is my absolute favorite, but here’s the cliff notes version:

#2  Even super crowded places are completely empty (a major win if you’re somewhere super crowded like San Diego)

I’ve known Bridgette and Colin for a few years, and was absolutely thrilled when they asked me to do photos on the actual day of their first wedding anniversary. Bridgette is my husbands former boss and is such an amazing leader and human in general, that when given the opportunity my husband chose to work for her a second time at a different company. Also, she’s extremely cool. She’s a paratrooper, Kardashian aficionado, and total badass. If the zombie apocalypse ever happens I want in on her squad.

I met them at Tamarack Beach in Carlsbad just before sunrise, and the light was absolutely beautiful. Dusky blues and vibrant purples and oranges lit up the sky. Tamarack Beach is such a beautiful spot, and at sunrise in winter it was absolutely magical. We hung out on the beach with their dog Simba who, by the way, KNOWS that she’s a QUEEN (just check out some of her photos below). We climbed a lifeguard tower like true San Diegans and I watched them dance to about half the playlist from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.

Sadly these two just moved up to the Bay Area, BUT I’m so grateful to have them as friends and to have gotten to be a part of their first anniversary celebration!!
